Your eye drifts from the bottom; a lovely landscape of a river and high hills. The misty clouds on the horizon partially hide even larger mountains, snow-capped and daunting. And yet as your eyes move up, they are stopped; riveted and transfixed on the towering, impassable peaks jutting out of the clouds and claiming the sky.
In this picture, I wanted to capture the thrilling and spellbinding feeling of coming over a rise and seeing before you the majestic and awe-inspiring vista, impenetrable and unsurmountable and yet the spirit longs to try.
The flat perspective and gold leaf add to the magic and vague unreality of the picture. Imagination and adventure beckon.
